On December 28, 2017 the Play It Forward Foundation held our second annual Winter Skate. Kids and adults packed into the Princeton Day School ice rink for free open skating courtesy of Play It Forward. In addition to skating, there was cookies, hot pretzels, hot chocolate, the DeLorenzo’s pizza truck, and even face painting for the kids. The attendees also had the opportunity to play “chuck-a-puck” where every entry got the chance to throw a puck onto the ice and the one closest to the center ice dot won the prize money. One of our youngest attendees showed up all the hockey veterans with a spectacular toss!
“We are really happy at the great turnout and that everyone seemed to have a great time. It’s important for us put on this event for free for the public as it’s our way of giving back to our supporters that have help us to accomplish our mission though-out the year and make our organization successful,” said Mike Pagano, coordinator of the event in between bites of a hot pretzel. Through the efforts of Mike and his team, the second Winter Skate was even better than the first.
The Winter Skate is Play It Forward’s annual event to celebrate all those supporters that make it possible for us to accomplish our mission of using sports to give back. Every year since we started, the Play It Forward Foundation has grown bigger and been able to help more and more individuals and charities. 2018 should be a big year for the organization. With an ambitious slate of sports events for 2018, the Play It Forward Foundation hopes to take their game to the next level. We are planning dodgeball, softball, soccer, beach volleyball, and perhaps even ultimate Frisbee tournaments in 2018.
Without the contributions of both the supporters that came to Winter Skate and those that couldn’t make it, none of this would be possible. So for all of you out there reading this, thanks for a great 2017 and let’s make it an even better 2018!
