On June 10, 2018, Play it Forward Foundation and a dedicated group of volunteers got together for the first of many small events planned to help improve lives of everyone throughout our local community.
Volunteers, including kids and adults, visited Sylvan Lake in Burlington Township, NJ to help the Parks and Recreation Department with a community clean-up project. The initiative originated with members from the Burlington Township Baseball Association who were then joined by players from the Lawrence Nassau Hockey Association and the Hamilton Township YMCA. The group spent the morning beautifying the area by picking up garbage and debris throughout the park so that the lake can continue to be enjoyed by local residents.
“This was a really great event that brought together people from all across the local sports community” said Play it Forward Foundation President Jeff Pagano. “When we learned that members from Burlington Township Baseball wanted to do a community service activity, we were happy to help them organize the event. It was great to see kids from different areas and different sports backgrounds come together to make a difference.”
As part of some new goals, Play It Forward will be partnering with various different sports leagues and organizations in NJ and PA to set up similar events. This is just the beginning of what we have planned.
If you want to get involved in our next community event (as a sports team, league, or even an individual) or have an idea for one that you think would be perfect for us to plan next, email us at [email protected].
The Play it Forward Foundation is committed to helping members of the sports community make a positive difference in the world. By linking together charity organizations and athletic groups, we are empowering athletes of all ages to give back, while working to get funding and support into the hands of the organizations who need it most.
